The Calm Before the Storm

Every child has that cute moment before they burst out in a loud cry. The look of their face turning upside down, escorted by a 10 second lip and chin quiver. Every parent has experienced this, and 99.9 percent has found this moment, “the calm before the storm,” just adorable and/or funny. Natural reactions take their course,  as we laugh or smile at that cute “upside down mouth” and inflated, sad eyes. Which ends up having a worse affect on the child as their feelings get hurt from us laughing at their seriously dramatic moment. At this point, the only remedy is closeness. Nothing works until you pick up your little baby and hug and kiss them. My adorable little one year old was pulling the wagon and it hit a root that she just couldn’t overcome. I was taking pictures of her big girl accomplishment of even getting it to move and then it got stuck. She looked up at me and did the face. I stopped taking pictures and laughed. She then SCREAMED. It’s one of those moments that you can’t help but find cute!
